United States Life Saving Station

Tatham’s Life Saving Station is the oldest existing building in Stone Harbor, NJ and is home to the Stephen C. Ludlam American Legion Post 331.  It is located at 117th Street and Second Avenue. Members from Stone Harbor, Avalon, Cape May County and beyond meet on the second Monday of the month (except in February and March) at 7PM.
The Post is named in memory of Stephen C. Ludlam who was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. For his heroic action in defeating a German machine gun and saving his comrades, Private Ludlam received the Purple Heart  and Distinguished Service Cross (our nations 2nd highest award).
